One day while I was shopping with my mother, we were walking past a store with a big front window. In this window there was a little boy, just standing there looking back at me. He had a black eye and bruised cheek. And the look in his eyes was so sad. They were filled with so much pain and sadness that just looking into them brought tears to my eyes. And I turned away.

Some years later, while walking past the store again, I saw that same little boy. He had grown some but it was apparant that it was the same boy. He still had bruised cheeks and his nose was taped up from being broken. In his eyes I could still see all his pain, his lonliness, his sadness. Once again it brought tears to my eyes, and once again I turned away.

In my teenage years, I walked past the store again. And again the boy was there. He had grown into a tall young man. No bruises on his face this time. But his eyes had changed. They hadn't lost their sadness or their pain or lonliness, but they had taken on a hard edge. Looking into his eyes this time scared me. This time I not only turned away but I walked faster than I had before because I couldn't bear to see this boy's eyes anymore.

Since I've grown up, I haven't gone back to that store. Maybe because I'm afraid to see the man that boy has become. I was going to go once, but I decided I didn't need that in my life at this point. I mean what is he to me anyway? I don't need it. My life is happy.

Yesterday, I was in my house and I just happened to walk by a mirror. The strangest thing happened. That boy from the window, he was a man now, and he was in that mirror staring back at me. His eyes don't have that hard look to them anymore and he actually looked happy now.

When I think back to the little boy in the window, staring into his eyes, into my eyes, I can't believe I was ever that sad. And I can't believe that his eyes, my eyes, scared me so bad that I couldn't bear to look.

It shows me that anyone's life can change for the better. If that little sad boy, who turned into a hard angry teenage boy, can change into the happy man I saw yesterday... then anyone can change for the better, given the right circumstances.

It was Friday, February 19, 1999. I was sitting in my car dazed, confused and very much in turmoil, because I had just buried my beloved two year old son, Jarod Charles, 15 minutes ago.

I had left in my car to get away and was completely numb to all around me. As I sat at the stop sign, I was so completely unaware that I started to proceed out of turn. The fellow across from me honked madly, gave me the "finger" and mouthed a few obscenities that I did not fail to miss.

I sat there so completely stunned and then I became so filled with spontaneous anger that I was shaking. I thought to myself, what a low life scum bag jerk to "flip me off" after I just buried my son. I peeled away and was simmering on the point of boil.

I drove back to the graveyard, have giving it enough time for the rest of the mourners to be gone, to have private time with my son. As I sat there, I became more upset that that man's single act was crowding my mind when I just wanted to weep and talk to my little boy before my flight that night.

As I thought, I came to realize something that made me fill with shame instantly. WHO AM I TO BE ANGRY AT THAT MAN?? HOW WAS HE SUPPOSE TO KNOW?? In fact, I asked myself if I could still count on both hands or if it was time to start on my toes, how many times I had done that exact thing.

Then came the reality of it. And here is my point. It is about random acts of kindness, not random acts of unaware cruelty.

Like I said, how was he to know I had just buried my baby. But the sad thing is, how I am to know that the kid I cursed a punk about 2 months ago for nearly sideswiping me wasn't on the brink of suicide and my gesture pushed him to the edge?

Or how about that little old man that I cursed until I even had to blush because he was not paying attention and missed the whole red light?? Or how about that lady that took MY PARKING spot at the mall?? How am I to know that the little old man wasn't deep in memory of a loved one past....or how about the lady simply just didn't see my blinker because she was worrying about getting her shopping done to get home to take care of her kids???

Ok, maybe I'm being overly dramatic, but really, its true...we know no one until we've walked in their shoes.


So the next time you feel anger, frustration, etc towards a stranger,
think before you act.
Try to be overtly nice. For if they are truly in the wrong, perhaps your kind gesture will set them on a kinder, more aware approach.

Life is very short. Live each minute like it is your last.

& many of you are facing the same distraction; COMPUTER.

Yes. that evil technology savvy machine that's causing you your studying time.

Try this:

1) Reward system; i study for 1 hour, then i'm allowed 15mins on the computer. OR i study this chapter. after this chapter, i'll play for 1/2 hour.

2) Punishment system; if i cannot concentrate on my studies for 1 hour, no computer break.

3) Psychological system; the computer is evil. i cannot touch it. if i touch it, i will not do well. it is evil it is evil it is evil *chants*

4) Friends-help system; study together and encourage each other not to use the computer. like "eh, remind me to not touch the comp ah. if i touch, your fault hor ._. "

5) Desperate system; disconnect the computer from the internet, lock your computer, throw it away (i'm kidding). stop all communication to your computer in any way. such as seeing your computer, feeling it, etc.

i'm sure it should help :D oh, and if you decide to throw your computer out, let me know. i'll catch it :D haha.
ps; i'm refering to laptops as well uh!

One day a father and his rich family took his son to a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be. They spent a day and a night in the farm of a very poor family.

When they got back from their trip the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"Very good Dad!"

"Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked.

"Yeah!"

"And what did you learn?"
The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have a whole horizon."

When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless. His son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are!"

Isn't it true that it all depends on the way you look at things? If you have love, friends, family, health, good humor and a positive attitude towards life-you've got everything!

You can't buy any of these things, but still you can have all the material possessions you can imagine, provisions for the future, etc., but if you are poor of spirit, you have nothing!


Everyday, i would hear people complaining about how 'poor' they are, having nothing at all; when they have friends beside them to take care of them, are very healthy, etc. Count your blessings, people would say. Take time to think through everything that has happened in your life. Do you think you're still 'poor'? Poor in spirit, perhaps. But not poor in materialistic possession. To be able to have a family sit with you for a meal is something you should rejoice over for there are many others who are not so fortunate, like me. When you are healthy, rejoice over that for there are many others suffering and fighting for their dear lives out there. Your perspective is really all that matters.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.


i'm sure we've all been through a situation whereby you thought someone would do it and that someone thought you would do it. it's irritating, no doubt. but it's human nature. next time, dont just wait for someone to do the job for you when you are supposed to do it and is able to do it. Fulfil what you have to do.

& today's my brother's birthday. Just wanna wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
he's 13 this year. which is sec 1 but he's still a bit childish though.

Summary for the 3-Day Study Camp
its not as bad as how i thought it would be.
had quite a fun time there.
ms wee was funny, mr leong.. kinda still the same.
and hor, that mr chiang.. can really keep secrets huh -.-
realised that i had alot of revising to do in my chem.
i dont even know the basics before i attend this camp.
well, at least now i know le :D

hohoho, as for maths i finally know how to find the

last time always never listen in class.

but throughout the camp only do trigo ley.

english. hms, they were preparing us for expository writing?
dunno how to spell la. lmao.
so they had this debate, we were to write down our views.
amongst the classmates, 6 students were chosen for
the class debate on the 2nd day of the camp.
the 6 were engteck, idris, abinav, haidar, lisa and lastly... me :\
my english isnt very good. or should i say not at all...
me, engteck and idris is in the proposition team;
and the other three is in the opposition team.
im the 1st speaker, followed by engteck and idris.
lisa was the 1st speaker too, followed by haidar and abinav.

while saying out my stuffs, i was kinda shaking abit.
nervous. but i manage to talk for 2 and a half min. (:
then lisa rebutted, which i dont really know what.
she said only like one and a half min. thats... short :\
then engteck had many things to say, he talked for like 3mins.
haidar then rebutted, the points wasnt so good though..
the floor-speakers came in and say out their views.
abinav and idris then rebutted to the floor speakers.
then we're done with the debate.

the 3rd day, ms priya then chose one out of the six ppl.
that chosen one needs to present a speech in front of the 3e classes.
she go choose me sia :\ i was like wth.. =.=
i mean, engteck did pretty well & so did haidar.
i was expecting it to be one of them lor.
or maybe idris cause he was pretty funny. xD
so i then told her, that i didnt wanna do the speech.
she kept persuading me. say it can help me improve my english too.
but i insisted that i didnt wanna say the speech.
then she said okay.. & said that her 2nd choice was et.
i knew it:D engteck spoke well. just that..
his points werent so good. i told him.. but he didnt listen.
then he had to write out an essay for his speech.
i helped him a little cause i kinda feel bad.

so yeah.. the other two speakers from the other classes;
vanessa & shao cong. which mrs jay kept pronouncing as "siao cong"
lols. was not bad. they did pretty well.
engteck got 3rd. i think its because he had too many awkward tones.
its funny..:\ vanessa spoke the most stable one lor.
thats why i think she got 1st (:
then shao cong, say the speech, so long.

but his points was good. so he got 2nd.

so this actually proves that girls actually speaks better :x

enough of music, now for the real blogging.
today was very very tiring. ):
we had only 3 subjects for the day:
English, Maths, Chemistry, from 8am-5pm -.-
we had 3 breaks, which is 2 and a half hours all tgt.

English was boring, as usual.
ms priya was boring. i mean not her..
her lessons. she had to rush through everything,
which i dont even get a damn thing.
and we have to do the debate by tmr.
everything's like so rush. and that isnt good.

well, but we had some "fun" during chem though.
for once, almost everyone understands chemistry.
we were split into 4 groups of ten people.
my group, got the worst teacher, Mr Leong.
but who cares. my group are the ones who pass chem.(:
there were 3 other teachers, mr lek, miss wee & mr chiang.
pathetic eh? four teachers teaching in a class.

miss wee was dam cute, small small short short one.
i think she's only 130+cm tall. but quite old le la :x
mr lek, was the so called "girly" one.
but he teach not bad ley. from what i observe (:
as for mr chiang, everyone thinks he teaches good la.
so i tink he's not bad too.

and then we had maths, which was quite.. boring?
just do finish the worksheet. nothing do le.
then mr ves talk to us stuffs on cyber wellness.
tell us not to eet strangers we know online,
not to cyber bully, or whatever..
but we don't really listen, do we?
all this talks, like no use also. hah.

then we went to the library for the one hr break.
watched movie, Night @ the Museum.
which is kinda out of date already.
but still interesting (:
but watch till half need to go back class le.
sian, then went to have english again.

when it was 5.30pm, mr ves talked to us.
he told us to look on the bright side no matter what.(:

i fail a maths, & yeah, i've always failed a maths.
but only pass one class test la. lols.
